The short version
Tiger 5 Tracker collects no data about you. It has no account, no sign-in, no analytics, and no advertising. It connects to the internet only when you ask, in two ways: tap Find Courses Near Me and it asks Apple Maps for the golf courses near you; tap Get the Scorecard and it asks Staton Golf’s own server for that course’s par and hole lengths, sending the course’s position and nothing about you. Everything you enter stays on your phone.
What the app stores, and where
The app keeps the round you are playing and the rounds you have ended as small files in its own private storage on your device. They contain the hole number, which of the five mistakes you ticked on each hole, and the time a round ended. Nothing in them identifies you. They are deleted when you delete the app.
If you pick a course, the app keeps the course's name, town and map position with that round. It never keeps where you were; only where the course is.
If you fetch a course’s scorecard, the app keeps it on your phone, with the tee you picked, so that course is never asked for again. It is deleted when you tap Not This Course, or when you delete the app.
The scorecard server
Get the Scorecard asks a server Staton Golf runs, at api.staton.golf. The request carries the course’s map position, rounded to about ten metres, and a key that is the same in every copy of the app, so the server answers only the app. Nothing about you or your phone goes with it: no account, no device identifier, no app or iOS version, no language setting, no cookie. The server looks the course up with a golf-course data provider and answers with its par and hole lengths.
The server keeps each scorecard it has fetched, and which course is at which position, so a course is fetched from the provider only once for everyone. That is course data, not data about the golfer who asked, and nothing kept links the two.
Like every server on the internet, it sees the internet address a request comes from. It uses that address for one thing, to limit how often it can be asked — at most 60 times a minute from one address — and does not store it or write it to any log. The server runs on Cloudflare, whose handling of network traffic is described in Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
If you use Apple’s device backup or iCloud Backup, those files may be included in your backup under Apple’s terms, like any other app’s data. Staton Golf never receives them.
What the app does not do
- It does not connect to the internet except in the two ways above, and only when you tap. For Find Courses Near Me your location goes to Apple under Apple's privacy policy and nowhere else; Staton Golf never receives your location, only the position of the course you picked.
- It does not collect, transmit, or share personal information, usage data, or diagnostics.
- It does not use the camera, contacts, or any other device capability that requires your permission. Location is asked for once, only when you tap Find Courses Near Me, and the app works fully if you decline or tap No Course.
- It does not include third-party SDKs, trackers, or advertising.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages and collects no information from anyone, children included.
Changes
26 September 2026: version 1.3 adds the optional scorecard described above. It is fetched only when you tap Get the Scorecard, and skipping it changes nothing.
8 September 2026: version 1.2 adds the optional course lookup described above. It asks your permission first, and declining changes nothing. If a future version ever collects or transmits anything else, this policy will say so before that version is released, with a new effective date.
